Ingestre Hall
Ingestre, Stafford, ST18 0RF reference in the Doomsday Book of 1086 refers to a Hugo de Mutton, Lord of the Manor, as owner of Ingestre Hall.In 1613 Ingestre was inherited by Sir Walter Chetwynd and a new Jacobean hall built.Capability Brown landscaped the park in 1756.Catherine, eldest daughter of William Chetwynd, inherited the hall in 1767 and married the honourable John Talbert.

In 1784 John the eldest son of Catherine and John, was created 1st Earl of Talbot and Viscount Ingestre.In 1803 John Nash reconstructed the north façade.Fire damaged the hall in 1882 and it was reconstructed by John Birch.It was inherited by the 21st Earl of Shrewsbury/ 6th Earl of Talbot / Viscount Ingestre in 1921.The hall was opened to the public in 1955 and it became the property of Sandwell Council in 1986.It is currently used as a residential study centre.

Cost is £25 per ticket, (an interval drink and two course supper will be included in the ticket cost).
Admission will be by ticket only with numbers limited to 100 (a reserve list will be compiled for any bids over the maximum).
